Bonnie Vale Alpaca Stud was established in 1989. It comprises almost 40 hectares of grazing and irrigation land with avenues of trees for shade and shelterbelts. The soils are mineral rich alluvial flats growing nutritious native and introduced pastures. Paddocks are divided into many small paddocks connected by laneways with maternity paddocks, weanling paddocks and general grazing areas. The farm is equipped with fresh water, excellent yards, stables and a specialised shearing shed.

As members of SRS® Alpacas International Bonnie Vale is following the objectives of this scientifically based breeding system.

SRS® breeding involves direct selection for low primary fibre diameter and high levels of fibre density and length, assessed annually which increases fleece quality & weight.

We are continually monitoring herd sires with the expert advice of our herd advisor Dr Jim Watts. The benefit of this breeding program over the past 4 years is evident in the quality of the current Bonnie Vale progeny and the excellent fleeces that they now produce.

In our 2010 review he commented that “the Bonnie Vale alpaca herd is producing high quality fleeces on robust animals with high fleece weights. The rate of genetic improvement is rapid and is reflected by the high proportions of animals kept as potential sires and for stud breeding”

Bonnie Vale has always used top genetics to continuously improve the quality of our white and fawn Huacaya flock. The foundation has been from the best genetics found in Australia including;

Purrumbete Eldorado, Highlander, Ledgers Dream, Snowman and Inti; Peruvian Sonoma; Jolimont Warrior, (National Champion) Regal House Mr Darcy (National Champion); Shanbrooke Peruvian Signature; Somerset Peruvian Excellence and Bonnie Vale Golden Boy & Oxley.

We are proud to own SRS® recommended wool sires Ross Creek Arctic Lad; Sire: Purrumbete Highlander & Arcady Augustus Sire: Auzengate.

In pursuing our SRS® goals we have used other highly recommended SRS® males including Benleigh Legend, Illawarra Yucatan and Marriglen Mars and Delta.

We offer a wide range of quality and coloured alpacas to suit all existing breeders and new breeders at very attractive prices.

In the future we hope to offer a selection of SRS® accredited stud sires and high quality females.
